Advent negotiated and funded the buyout of one of the founders of royalblue in September 1995 and led the re-capitalisation and re-structuring of the company.

Royalblue plc is a leading supplier of global financial trading software with offices in New York, London, Tokyo and Hong Kong with development centres in Surrey and New York. The company provides a range of applications, known collectively as the fidessa trading platform, which automate the front and mid-office business processes for sell side firms trading equities in the US, European, Japanese and Asian markets.

Advent worked closely with the company in successfully floating it on the London Stock Exchange in 1997. Revenues grew from £7.2m in 1995 to over £20m two years later. Advent sold its shares in late 1998 achieving a multiple of 13.2 and an internal rate of return of 257%.

royalblue group plc changed its name to Fidessa group plc in May 2007.
